What is Hatha Yoga?

The definition of the word yoga is union, yoking or joining together of two opposing forces. Hatha yoga is a path towards creating "balance" and uniting opposites in order to reach mental, physical and spiritual balance. Hatha yoga is well known as the physical practice of executing particular postures with pranayama (breathing techniques) which brings us harmony in our body, mind and spirit. In our physical bodies we develop a balance of strength and flexibility. We also learn to balance our efforts and surrender into each pose by “letting go” and releasing tension.

The postures open the many channels within the body the main one being the spine so that energy can flow freely.

Incorporating Yoga into your lifestyle will bring you relief from the fastpaced world we live in and lead you to a stronger body and clearer mind.

Come along to my classes and see if Hatha Yoga is for you, read some of the student testimonials below.  My classes are friendly, fun and you are made to feel welcome and at ease working at your own ability, you choose whether to challenge yourself or take it easy, my classes have lots of variety so no week is the same.   I offer attention to individuals if needed for you to get the most out of your practice. "I have been attending Nicola's yoga class for the past 2 years and started as a total beginner, I look forward to her class, she has lots of patience, makes you feel comfortable, brings humour to relieve the tension you bring from work.  Nicola encouraged me to progress in poses I never thought I could which leaves you with a wonderful feeling to make you want to return".  Yoga relieves my tension, improved my fitness and posture and my back aches"" - Sue, Chalfont St Giles

"I opted for private lessons with Nicola as I was unable to attend one of her classes regularly, I have progressed so much over the last year, it has definitely improved my flexibility, relieving tension in my muscles, she has taught me how to relax through different breathing techniques when life gets stressful.    I have recently started having reflexology sessions with Nicola with hugely benefit relieving my stress and tension" -  Sharon, Hemel Hempstead

Nicola's classes have helped relieve the pins and needles I suffered after running, I was recommended to try yoga and it relieved the pain and improved my flexibility as well as my posture which used to give me back ache.   I now do some yoga stretches before and after my run which has helped immensely" - Phil, Boxmoor

I look forward to seeing you at class.
Nicola.
